Everton star man, Leighton Baines has signed a new 4 year deal with the Club.
Baines told the club website evertonfc.com: “I’ve loved every minute of being here since I first joined in 2007 and I couldn’t be happier.”
Signed for £6m in 2007 from Wigan Athletic, fan favourite Baines had 18 months left on his contract. With Baines propelling himself as one of the best defenders in Europe many had tipped him to leave Goodison in this window with United and ex-Everton manager David Moyes confirmed admirers.
Baines will hope along with every other Evertonian now that all the media will be left to talk about are his performances on the pitch stating:
“Was it a distraction? Not for me, no,”
“Of course it was on my mind at times away from pitch because I was getting asked about it everywhere I went but I hope the supporters could see that I didn’t let it affect me at all once I crossed the white line.
“I’ve never been one to relish the limelight so I suppose I’m glad that the speculation will go away now.”
The winning goal in tonights Merseyside derby would be the icing on the cake for all Evertonians!
