Norwich City’s promotion to the Premier League has given all of its stakeholders an unexpected windfall of around £1 million each, via savings in parachute payments. At this weekend’s Supporters Summit the Blue Union will be submitting an emergency motion.
All 20 Premier League stakeholders are due to receive an unexpected cash windfall due to Norwich City’s instant return to the Premier League. This equates to roughly £1 million per stakeholder. The cash injection would allow Premier League clubs to fund the “FSFs £20s plenty “campaign without any negative impact on budgets or revenue streams for the season 2015-16.
“We call on the FSF, with due expediency to contact the Premier League and implore them to acknowledge the role played by travelling supporters in adding to the colour, noise and atmosphere at Premier League games.
Recognition of the role played by fans can be achieved by investing the saving’s made due to Norwich City’s promotion back into the top flight in making “Football Affordable” for those who travel the extra mile, the travelling supporter.”
